All Ireland Youth Fly Tying 2010

Four young Coosan Anglers competed in the all Ireland youth fly tying finals in Cornamaona in Galway on Saturday Feb 20th. The Leinster team which includes our lads won the interprovincial event for the first time. In fact Connaught had won this event every year since the competition started 8 years ago. However, this year Leinster came out well on top. The overall winner and all Ireland champion was Sean Cassidy from Dundalk winning the event for the second time in a row. In close second place was Sean Dempsey from Coosan Anglers with Fergal McKiernan only one point behind in third place. Martin Costello and John Naughton were also part of the winning Leinster team.

The Leinster youth fly tying competition took place on Saturday January 23rd in Stradbally. A total of 12 entrants took part in this competition with the top 8 going forward to represent Leinster in the all Ireland finals which will take place on Saturday February 20th in Cornamona near Lough Corrib. The four entrants from Coosan were John Naughton, Fergal McKiernan, Martin Costello and Sean Dempsey. All four of our lads qualified for the Leinster team - all of them for the second time in successive years. The Judges said that the standard was very high with little difference between the top eight.
